TOOTH GEMS PRE/POST CARE

Pre-Care (Before Your Appointment)

Following these steps ensures your tooth surface is ideal for the bonding process, giving your gem the best chance to last:

•Eat First: Please eat a light meal before your appointment, as you will need to avoid eating for a couple of hours immediately afterward.

•Brush & Floss Thoroughly: Come to your appointment with teeth that are freshly brushed and flossed. A clean surface is essential for the adhesive to bond correctly.

•Avoid Whitening: Refrain from using any teeth whitening products (strips, gels, or abrasive whitening toothpaste) for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as these can affect the bonding agent.

Post-Care (After Your Appointment)

Following these guidelines, especially in the first 72 hours, is crucial for the gem's adhesion and longevity.

Immediate Care (First 12-24 Hours)

•Avoid Eating & Drinking | First 1–2 Hours | Only water is allowed. Give the adhesive time to fully set. |

•Avoid Brushing | First 12 Hours | Do not brush the tooth with the gem applied. You can brush your other teeth gently. |

•Stick to Soft Foods | First 12 Hours | Avoid hard, crunchy, or sticky foods (e.g., nuts, chips, gum, hard candy). Use the opposite side of your mouth for chewing. |

•Avoid Stainers/Acids | First 24 Hours | Limit coffee, tea, red wine, soda, and highly acidic drinks (like citrus juice) as they can compromise the bond. |

•No Fidgeting,First 24 Hours | Do not touch, pick, or play with the gem using your tongue or fingers.

 Long-Term Daily Care

•Brush Gently: After the first 24 hours, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and brush gently around the gem to prevent plaque buildup.

•Avoid Electric Toothbrushes: It is recommended to avoid using an electric toothbrush directly on the gem for the first 48 hours, and some clients find it best to avoid them entirely to protect the bond.

•Non-Abrasive Products: Use a non-abrasive toothpaste. Avoid products with charcoal or harsh whitening agents, as these can scratch the gem or weaken the adhesive over time.

•Floss as Usual: Continue flossing, but use caution and a gentle motion around the gem.

•Regular Dental Visits: Continue your regular dental cleanings. Be sure to inform your hygienist about your tooth gem so they can clean around it properly.
